Medical Billing or Coding Specialist
WeCareMD Family Practice is in need of a highly motivated CERTIFIED Medical Billing/Coding Specialist to perform the following functions. Must be experienced and proficient in all areas of medical billing within the scope of family practice. Certification must be current, and candidate must have recent, relevant experience within a family practice environment, with extensive knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT2 coding.
Duties: Responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. Responsible for coding visits, submitting claims and following up with insurance companies and patients for prompt payment.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
- Answer questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
- Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
- Prepare, review and send patient statements.
- Evaluate patient’s financial status and establish budget payment plans.
- Follow and report status of delinquent accounts.
- Review accounts for possible assignment and make recommendations to the Practice Manager, also prepares information for the collection agency.
- Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone
- Correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
- Processes payment from insurance companies and prepare daily reports and deposits.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
